Vertex International University, represented by the College of Computing and Information Technology, is preparing to launch the activities of the Cybersecurity & Innovation Club through its first training workshop, entitled “Cybersecurity Awareness and Digital Safety: An Introduction to Cybersecurity for Everyone.” The workshop will take place online on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mecca time.
The workshop aims to introduce participants to the fundamental concepts of cybersecurity, raise awareness of digital threats and risks, and highlight ways to protect privacy and personal data. It will also introduce career paths in the field and the skills required to begin learning about it. In addition, the workshop marks the beginning of the club’s activities, which aim to promote digital awareness, organize training and practical events, and provide opportunities to participate in specialized activities and competitions.
A Training Workshop to Enhance Cybersecurity Awareness and Digital Safety
This workshop is among the first initiatives of the Cybersecurity & Innovation Club, through which the College of Computing and Information Technology at Vertex International University seeks to provide a learning and training space where students and interested individuals can explore the fundamentals of cybersecurity and understand the challenges associated with the everyday use of digital technologies.
The workshop will be delivered by Associate Professor Dr. Hani Amin of the College of Computing and Information Technology at Vertex International University. He will present a range of topics combining foundational concepts with practical practices necessary to enhance digital safety.
The workshop will begin with an introduction to the Cybersecurity & Innovation Club, its vision, objectives, future activities, and opportunities to participate in its events. It will then provide an introduction to cybersecurity, explaining its fundamental concepts, its importance in everyday life, and its role in protecting systems and data against digital threats.
Digital Threats, Privacy Protection, and Career Paths
The program will introduce participants to the most common cybersecurity threats and risks, including phishing, malware, social engineering, and digital fraud techniques. It will also cover essential practices for protecting personal accounts, passwords, and data, while promoting safe use of the internet and social media platforms.
The workshop will also explore available career paths in cybersecurity, the fundamental skills required to work in the field, and the first steps beginners can take to develop their technical knowledge. The program will further introduce the club’s upcoming activities, including training workshops, practical exercises, and cybersecurity competitions known as CTF (Capture the Flag).
The session is intended for university students from all disciplines, faculty members, university staff, and anyone interested in cybersecurity and digital safety. No prior technical background is required, allowing participants from a wide range of backgrounds to benefit from its introductory content.
