Vertex International University to Organize a Scientific Day on Contemporary Environmental and Health Challenges

Vertex International University, represented by its College of Health and Environmental Sciences, is preparing to organize a scientific day entitled “Contemporary Environmental and Health Challenges: From Risk Monitoring to Prevention and Sustainable Solutions” on Monday, October 26, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. Mecca time, via Zoom. The event will bring together a distinguished group of academics and specialists in the health and environmental fields.

The event aims to address several contemporary issues related to drinking water safety, pesticide residues in the food chain, safe medical waste management, occupational health and environmental safety, as well as the relationship between mental health and public health. These topics will be explored through five scientific papers examining approaches to risk monitoring and assessment, prevention strategies, and sustainable practices that support the protection of human health.

Five Scientific Papers Address Health and Environmental Issues

The scientific day’s program will feature five specialized presentations examining different aspects of contemporary health and environmental challenges and exploring topics that connect scientific risk monitoring with practical prevention measures.

Dr. Safaa Yahya, Assistant Professor of Physical Chemistry, will present the first scientific paper, entitled “Drinking Water Safety and Rapid Detection Techniques for Contaminants: From Field Monitoring to Health Prevention.” The paper will address water safety, methods for detecting contaminants, and the importance of early monitoring in reducing health risks associated with drinking water quality.

The second scientific paper will be presented by Dr. Mona Shaalan, a faculty member at Vertex International University, under the title “Pesticide Residues and Health Surveillance Across the Food Chain: From Exposure Assessment to the Prevention of Health Risks.” It will focus on pesticide residues in the food chain, exposure assessment, and the role of health surveillance in reducing potential risks to consumers.

In the area of medical waste management, Dr. Noura Fadl, who holds a doctorate in Nursing Management Sciences, will present the third scientific paper, entitled “Safe Environmental Management of Medical Waste in Healthcare Facilities: From Source Segregation to Treatment and Sustainable Disposal.” The paper will highlight the stages of safe medical waste handling, beginning with segregation at the source and extending to treatment and disposal practices that take healthcare and environmental safety requirements into account.

Dr. Fatma Amin, a Life Sciences specialist and faculty member at Vertex International University, will contribute the fourth scientific paper, entitled “Occupational Health and Environmental Safety in Industrial Workplaces: From Exposure Assessment to the Prevention of Occupational Hazards and Diseases.” Her presentation will examine exposure to hazards in industrial workplaces, the importance of risk assessment, and the implementation of preventive measures to reduce workplace accidents and occupational diseases.

Dr. Hanan Eissa, an Educational Psychology Consultant, will serve as the scientific day’s moderator and will also contribute the fifth scientific paper, entitled “Mental Health and Public Health: The Physiological Effects of Chronic Psychological Stress and Strategies for Health Promotion and Prevention.” The paper will examine the physiological effects of chronic psychological stress and approaches to health promotion and prevention, considering the relationship between mental health and the physical dimensions of public health.

An Academic Event to Raise Awareness of Health and Environmental Risks

The scientific day will bring together topics directly related to human health and community safety, ranging from water and food quality to safe practices in healthcare facilities and industrial workplaces, as well as the impact of psychological stress on public health. The diversity of the scientific papers will allow these issues to be examined from multiple specialized perspectives, with an emphasis on early monitoring, risk assessment, and the adoption of preventive measures that help minimize potential impacts.

The event forms part of the academic activities organized by Vertex International University through its colleges. It aims to provide a platform for scientific dialogue and the exchange of knowledge and expertise, while encouraging greater engagement with health and environmental issues relevant to scientific research and professional practice.

The scientific day is scheduled to take place via Zoom on Monday, October 26, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. Mecca time. Participants will also receive a free certificate from Vertex International University confirming their attendance and participation.

The university has invited students, researchers, faculty members, professionals, and anyone interested in health and environmental sciences to register and participate through the official registration page:
